Manchester United registered a thrilling 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.
Man United endured a nightmare start as a disastrous mix-up between Patrick Dorgu and Andre Onana gifted Jaden Philogene an easy tap-in to an empty net.
An own goal from Sam Morsy brought United level before Matthijs de Ligt powered United into a 2-1 lead.
Dorgu picked up a straight red card after VAR’s intervention late in the first half.
Philogene struck again in the dying moments of the first half to set the stage for a thrilling second period.
The Red Devils enjoyed a fantastic start after the break with Harry Maguire restoring their advantage with a superb header.
United defended well with 10 men in the last few minutes to take crucial three points.
Andre Onana – 2/10
The Cameroon international made a terrible decision to sprint out rather than trusting Dorgu to clear the ball.
He was at fault again for Ipswich’s second goal. Onana must be dropped when Altay Bayindir becomes available.
Matthijs de Ligt – 7/10
De Ligt took a more advanced position when playing out from the back and scored a crucial goal to lift the Old Trafford crowd.
Harry Maguire – 7/10
He enjoyed a thrilling battle with Delap in the first half and emerged as the match-winner with a perfectly placed header.
Leny Yoro – 6/10
The teenager impressed with his slick footwork to carve out a chance for Hojlund but needs to sharpen his passing from the back to make a greater impact.
Diogo Dalot – 4/10
His most notable contribution was a disastrous pass straight to Delap, abruptly killing off United’s attacking momentum.
Patrick Dorgu – 2/10
Not only Onana but Dorgu was at fault too for the first goal. He recovered and played well before getting his marching orders.
Manuel Ugarte – 7/10
Ugarte delivered a commanding performance in midfield, highlighting exactly what Casemiro struggles to provide when the Brazilian is in the lineup.
Bruno Fernandes – 9/10
It is hard to say where will United be without Fernandes.
The Portuguese midfielder pulled strings from the centre and played a crucial role in all three United goals.
His magnificent work ethic must be the benchmark for the rest of the squad.
Alejandro Garnacho – 6/10
The Argentina international must have felt bad when Amorim surprisingly decided to take him off after Dorgu’s red card.
Joshua Zirkzee – 5/10
Zirkzee showed solid link up play but struggled as a lone striker in the final quarter due to his lack of pace.
Rasmus Hojlund – 3/10
Hojlund got one clear chance to end his goal drought but chose to dummy the ball rather than taking a shot.
Amorim should have taken him off and not Garnacho in first half.
Noussair Mazraoui – 6/10
Mazraoui did well to tighten up United’s defence.
Casemiro – 6/10
A disciplined performance and rallied the crowd later on.
Christian Eriksen – NA
Too late to rate.
Victor Lindelof – NA
Too late to rate.
