Man United’s ‘shining light’ is now a ‘priority’ for Premier League club as new price tag is set

After beating Manchester United to Liam Delap’s signature last week, Chelsea are preparing to revive their interest in Alejandro Garnacho.
Indeed, the Blues came out on top in the race for Delap’s signature, as he opted for a move to Stamford Bridge amid interest from United, Everton, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest.
With their desired centre-forward addition now wrapped up early doors, Enzo Maresca and the Chelsea board will turn their attention to a new attacker.
As per Ben Jacobs, a right-footed left winger is the ‘next priority’ for the London outfit, with Garnacho among three names on their shortlist – along with Nico Williams (Athletic Club) and Jamie Gittens (Borussia Dortmund).

A deal for United’s No.17 may be easier to hash out due to the club’s desire to offload him.
His post-match antics in the aftermath of their Europa League final defeat, in which he labelled the side’s season as ‘sh*t’ and undermined Ruben Amorim’s decision to bench him for the fixture, led to him being omitted from the matchday squad on the final day of the Premier League campaign.
It was also reported that Amorim had directly told Garnacho in front of his teammates in training to ‘pray’ that he can find another club this summer, making it crystal clear he has no future at Old Trafford.
In truth, it’s a sorry end to the youngster’s Red Devils tenure. He joined from Atletico Madrid’s youth system for just £420,000 in 2020 and worked his way through the academy ranks to establish himself as a key first-team starter.
Troy Deeney even hailed Garnacho as United’s only ‘shining light’ following a stalemate Manchester derby back in April.
Yet, there’s now too much water under the bridge for Amorim to plan for the forthcoming season with the Argentine in his ranks, and, as a result, INEOS chiefs will consider any offers that arrive for him in the coming weeks.
A £45 million bid from Napoli was rebuffed in January due to it not meeting United’s £60m valuation. It remains to be seen if the newly-crowned Serie A champions will return for Garnacho, who’s accumulated 144 senior appearances, 26 goals and 22 assists to his name since his senior debut in April 2022.
