Manchester United have reportedly engaged in initial talks regarding a future transfer for RB Salzburg forward Nene Dorgeles.
The Mali international moved to the Austrian giants from Guidars FC in his homeland at the start of 2021. After three loan spells in two-and-a-half years, the right-footed left winger began to forge his way into Salzburg's first team.
After a season of adaptation, which still produced five top-flight goals, Nene has established himself as a fixture of the first team this term. Salzburg have endured a wretched collective campaign - which led to the swift termination of manager Pep Lijnders in December - but Nene has already surpassed his goal tally from last season.
The 22-year-old ended 2024 with a burst of five direct goal contributions in three league games and has now attracted interest from Manchester United, per Fabrizio Romano.
The Premier League outfit have reportedly added Nene to their transfer shortlist - with a move in January or next summer both viable. There have already been discussions between the two clubs and initial talks about a transfer fee have taken place.
United's future interest in Nene will be dictated by Salzburg's asking price. The first club in Red Bull's footballing empire is now under the remit of ex-Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, who took charge as 'Head of Global Soccer' in January, and have a history of selling their young recruits.
Manchester City's Erling Haaland, Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai and former Reds forward Sadio Mane - to name just three - have all come through the the Austrian breeding ground before moving to the Premier League.
