Manchester United are looking to sign a goalkeeper in January amid concerns Altay Bayindir wants to leave, according to the Daily Mail.

The 26-year-old Turkey international joined the Red Devils from Fenerbahce in 2023 but has yet to play in the Premier League as he is firmly behind Andre Onana in the pecking order.

Bayindir has made three appearances for Man United, all coming in cup competitions, and he is now keen to leave to play regular first-team football elsewhere.

The Old Trafford club are monitoring goalkeeping opportunities ahead of the winter transfer window with a view to potentially letting Bayindir depart, and they are unlikely to be short of options.

Sunderland goalie Anthony Patterson is reportedly on their radar as goalkeeper scout Tony Coton has continued to run the rule over him, and Man United have concluded he fits the bill.

The England youth international has been a mainstay for the Black Cats since 2021-22, with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur also keen on securing his services.

A move to Man United could be more appealing to the 24-year-old Patterson, but he could prefer to wait until the end of the season before making a decision.

Sunderland are currently pushing for Premier League promotion and would be reluctant to sell one of their most important players right now.

He is not the only option the Red Devils will be keeping tabs on, and they will not hesitate to go after quality cover once Bayindir makes it clear he wants out.
