Manchester United winger Adriana Leon has departed for Aston Villa after a little over one year at the club.
The Canada international signed for Marc Skinner’s side last summer following three years at another Women’s Super League club, West Ham.
But the Olympic gold medalist made only nine appearances for the Red Devils and spent the second half of last season with NWSL side the Portland Thorns.
The 30-year-old has now penned a two-year deal with Villa to become the club’s sixth summer signing.
“Adriana is someone we’ve monitored over the last 18 months and is someone who has displayed great pedigree in the Barclays WSL,” said Villa manager Carla Ward.
“She can play off both sides and will add another dimension to our evolving group.”
“We’re delighted she’s committed her future to us and we’re all looking forward to working with her.”
Ironically, Villa will kick off their new WSL campaign by hosting United in their season opener on 1 October.
