Manchester City have registered their interest in Sheffield Wednesday forward Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri and have made a seven-figure offer to the EFL Championship club for one of their brightest academy talents, as per a new report.
City boast one of England’s best academies and have seen a plethora of academy graduates emerge as key players of some of Europe’s best clubs since the Abu Dhabi takeover in 2008, with the likes of Phil Foden and Rico Lewis regulars for Pep Guardiola.
Nico O’Reilly and James McAtee were both on the scoresheet against Crystal Palace at the weekend and the latter marked his full Premier League debut with a well-taken goal, his seventh of the season in all competitions and third in the Premier League.
O’Reilly has become a fan favourite in recent months and made his fourth straight start at the weekend, slowly making the left-back position his own albeit being an attacking midfielder after starring in City’s run to the FA Cup semi-final and playing a match-winning role off the bench for the Blues in their comeback quarter-final win against Bournemouth in March.
Foden has endured a difficult, stop-start season by his own standards after his personal best season in a Manchester City shirt last year, leading his boyhood club to a fourth straight Premier League title and being voted the PFA Players’ Player of the Year.
The 24-year-old has become a poster boy for the Manchester City academy and has trodden the gradual, patient path of keeping his head down in training and picking up minutes here and there since he started training with the first-team towards the end of Guardiola’s first-season in charge of City.
City have also witnessed Rico Lewis play an instrumental role in midfield and right-back since his emergence in the first-team, ousting Joao Cancelo and making the right side of defence his own midway through the 2022-23 campaign.
McAtee has delighted when he has come on in the FA Cup and Premier League this season and many of City’s academy graduates have enjoyed stellar seasons elsewhere in the English top-flight this term, such as Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.
As reported by Joe Crann writing for The Sheffield Star, Manchester City have seen an audacious seven-figure offer turned down for Sheffield Wednesday teenage forward Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri.
Cadamarteri, 15, has enjoyed a stunning season in front of goal for club and country – having represented both England and Scotland at youth level – and his stock has risen owing to his goalscoring prowess for all of Sheffield Wednesday’s U-15, U-16 and U-18 sides in the last year.
