Manchester City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers: Latest City injury news and predicted City starting lineup

Manchester City take on Wolverhampton Wanderers tonight at the Etihad Stadium. Following Nottingham Forest’s 2-nil defeat to Brentford last night tonight’s Premier League fixture is an opportunity for Pep Guardiola’s side to solidify themselves the Champions League spots for next season. But Wolves enter tonight’s match in red-hot form. They have won their past six matches and will pose a tough test for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Here is the latest Manchester City injury news and my predicted City starting eleven ahead of tonight’s match.
There was good news on the injury front for Manchester City this week. Rodri and Erling Haaland have both returned to training this week. However, they both are unlikely to feature tonight, as per Pep Guardiola’s update yesterday.
Ederson could return in goal for Manchester City tonight. He was on the bench for City’s FA Cup semi-final win over Nottingham Forest and, after a week for training, could start tonight’s match.
Oscar Bobb, Nathan Ake and John Stones are all out of tonight’s match due to injury. Outside of those three City are returning to full strength at the end of the season.
Ederson: I’m expecting Ederson to start in goal tonight after he has recovered from injury.
Matheus Nunes: Nunes will have a crucial role to play tonight. His overlapping runs will be crucial to City’s attacking play and his pace at the back will be needed up against the threat Wolves pose going forward.
Ruben Dias: An automatic selection alongside Josko Gvardiol.
Josko Gvardiol: A certain starter for tonight’s match.
Nico O’Reilly: He has made the left-back position his own in recent weeks. It’s now at a point where it would be a major shock if he didn’t start.
Nico: The Spanish midfielder didn’t start in City’s FA Cup semi-final win. But I’m expecting to come back into the starting lineup against Wolves’ energetic midfield.
Mateo Kovacic: The Croatian international has been in splendid form of late. He should start tonight’s match.
Bernardo Silva: Another player who has been pivotal in City’s eight-match unbeaten run. He will have a critical role to play tonight.
Kevin De Bruyne: The clock is ticking on De Bruyne’s City career. After being rested last weekend I expect him to start.
Jeremy Doku: Doku deserves a start and that could come tonight. I’m expecting him to line up on the left wing.
Omar Marmoush: Another player who appears to be a certain starter tonight.
