Manchester United are reportedly keen on parting ways with Casemiro despite the Brazilian’s desire to see out his contract at Old Trafford.

Before United’s shambolic defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur, Ruben Amorim had not handed Casemiro a single minute of Premier League action in 2025, underlining he no longer counts on him.

An injury crisis forced Amorim to start Casemiro on Sunday and the Brazilian midfielder delivered a performance that underlined just why the United head coach was overlooking him.

Spurs enjoyed plenty of freedom in the middle of the park as the veteran chased shadows.

However, earlier this week, Casemiro revealed that he intends to remain at the club and see out his contract, due to expire in the summer of 2026. United, meanwhile, have different plans.

According to GIVEMESPORT, United are “not so happy” with Casemiro’s situation at the club, and offloading him this summer is set to be “a major priority” for the hierarchy.

The 32-year-old has failed to live up to his reputation and there is a feeling “he has settled into a comfort zone that no longer reflects the hunger and intensity” that made him a five-time Champions League-winning midfielder at Real Madrid.

This supposed attitude is a major problem when considering that he is the Red Devils’ highest paid player, taking home more than £300,000-per-week.

Casemiro was never an elite midfielder with the ball at his feet but his athleticism at Santiago Bernabeu made him one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe.

In recent seasons, Erik ten Hag’s disastrous signing’s mobility has faded fast and he is often a burden in midfield.

The Brazil international’s wages and form have supposedly impacted United’s rebuilding plan amid financial fair play concerns and his situation under Amorim is viewed as “irredeemable”.

During the winter transfer window, the likes of AS Roma and Flamengo were linked with Casemiro but nothing materialised. Now, all eyes are on the summer transfer window.
