Manchester United are hoping to cash in on Casemiro.

According to former chief scout Mick Brown, United are looking to sell Casemiro in January.

There was a similar plan in the summer but a deal failed to materialise because there wasn’t enough interest in the Brazilian midfielder due to his salary.

Casemiro struggled to find form last season and it no longer looks like he can take control of games in the middle of the pitch, as he did during his first campaign at Old Trafford after joining from Real Madrid.

Sadly, Casemiro’s performances have dipped since his debut season.

It is understood that Casemiro is open to a move away from the club after being dropped from the starting XI this season. Furthermore, United signed Manuel Ugarte as a replacement, but the Uruguayan has struggled since his summer move from Paris Saint-Germain.

Former scout Brown told Football Insider: “I’m told they’ll look to cash in on him [Casemiro] as soon as they can, on the 1st January if possible.

“He’s been benched because he hasn’t been performing and can’t do it any more.

“I’m sure they would love to offload him if they could to get him out of the squad and off the wage bill, which would allow them to spend some money.”

Who wants Casemiro?

United expected interest from Saudi Arabia the summer, but that never happened, so it will be interesting to see if Casemiro receives any offers in the coming months.

His current deal expires in June 2026 and his contract includes the option of a further year.

The big question in January will be who wants Casemiro because nobody came knocking for his signature in the summer.
