Ruben Amorim has made five changes from last weekend’s defeat to Wolves, with Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro back in defence and Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro returning in midfield.

United face Athletic Bilbao in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday but Amorim vowed to play his “best” XI.

Tyler Fredricson and Chido Odi are on the bench.

Diogo Dalot has been ruled out with a calf injury.

Matthijs de Ligt and Amad Diallo are both closing in on comebacks, with Amorim saying on Friday that the pair were “near”, but neither are in the squad.

“We are going to face this game with the best team, because we had a full week to prepare, some of the players did not play against Wolverhampton, so sometimes, if you recover so much of the players, it is a bad thing,” said Amorim. “So I will try to manage everything to win this game and to prepare for the next one."

Dalot faces a spell on the sidelines. Amorim said: “Diogo is out. We don't know long he is going to be out. But he is out for these games, we will see until the end.”

Joshua Zirkzee and Lisandro Martinez are out for the rest of the season and Ayden Heaven remains sidelined.

Predicted Manchester United XI: Onana; Mazraoui, Maguire, Yoro; Dorgu, Ugarte, Casemiro, Amass; Garnacho, Fernandes; Hojlund

Injured: Dalot, Amad, Martinez, De Ligt, Heaven, Zirkzee, Collyer
