Casemiro has revealed he gave Manchester United teammate Tyrell Malacia his FA Cup winner’s medal from last season.

Manchester United won the FA Cup in 2023/24 after beating Manchester City at Wembley, as goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo sealed silverware success.

Malacia played no part in the cup triumph, having been sidelined for the entire campaign after undergoing knee surgery. The Dutch full-back, who recently returned from an 18-month absence, did not want to join in the celebrations with his teammates at Wembley.

Casemiro encouraged the 25-year-old to be part of the post-match celebrations and has revealed he gave his medal to Malacia to ensure he felt involved in the club’s success.

“I didn’t know Malacia had talked about it, but it’s true, I gave him my medal,” Casemiro told reporters. “He hadn’t played a single game that season, and he didn’t want to climb the steps. There was no medal for him, so I gave him mine.

“He’s part of the team and we’re counting on him. Even though he hasn’t played this season, we love him, we need him and he also needs love.”
