Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen on Saturday continued to etch his name ever further into the history books of the La Liga giants.

As much comes owing to his appearance in Barca’s meeting with Girona.

Xavi’s troops are of course currently locked in action, in a crunch clash at the Estadi Montilivi.

Amid the ongoing battle for 2nd place in Spain’s top-flight, boss Xavi, as expected, opted for a strong starting XI, with the aforementioned Ter Stegen in from the off.

And, as alluded to above, in the process, the German international secured for himself another piece of history.

As per statisticians Opta, Ter Stegen has broken his tie with Dani Alves, to establish sole ownership of 2nd place in the list of Barcelona players from outside of Spain with the most appearances for the club.

The shot-stopper has now racked up a hugely impressive tally of 409.

Safe to say, however, that he still has plenty of work to do to catch all-time leader Lionel Messi, who managed 778 appearances in Blaugrana colours.
