The commitment of every single player at FC Barcelona must be unquestionable. Until and unless the squad manages to accomplish that goal, there will continue to be slip ups that are not wanted. Unfortunately, so far this season, the Barcelona players seem to have lost their head at a bad time.
It is no secret that the last couple of matches have been a disaster for the Catalan giants. Without any sugarcoating needed, Hansi Flick’s team have simply not been up to the mark and it is quite clear to see that things are not heading towards the right direction.
Having a much more significant lead at the top of La Liga before, Barça are now at the mercy of their rivals for no good reason. The team’s own carelessness has resulted in this hopeless reality, but some of the players continue to have faith in their ability it seems.
Ahead of a crucial encounter between FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, 21-year-old midfielder Marc Casado spoke about the game and also about where the team is currently from a mental perspective, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo:
“Despite recent results, we all would have signed up at the start of the season to be first in La Liga and second in the Champions League.”
As for the game itself, Casado believes that the team is preparing well for it:
“We are very motivated for Saturday’s game. We’ve analyzed what we need to improve, and the important thing is we’re eager to turn around our recent league form.”
However, the Barcelona midfielder also suggested that he knows what his team needs to do in order to match and outperform Atletico Madrid at the Montjuic Stadium:
“We know Atlético plays with a lot of intensity, and we must at least match it to beat them.”
While these are certainly some encouraging words, the reality is that the team needs to show their character on the field. Several players have started to underperform, and others are being burdened with too much weight on their shoulders. Ultimately, Hansi Flick must do something to get Barcelona on track again.
