The mercato will be mainly for improving the here and now for AC Milan, but they will also be surveying the market for opportunities, as will other European clubs.

In Milan’s current situation, there must be a focus on improving the current team, especially considering that the starting team definitely can be improved. As always with football though, it is never that straightforward, especially mid-season.

For this reason, the Rossoneri may begin to look at squad options with a high ceiling, and it seems that a talent in Spain could fit this bill.

Marca (via Football Espana) report that the club are interested in Deportivo La Coruna ‘gem’ Yeremay Hernandez. The attacker has eight goals and three assists in 18 games in the Spanish second division so far, which is a story similar to Stefanos Tzimas, who the Diavolo are also interested in.

According to the report, he would only be available to a club who are ready to pay the €20 million clause in his contract, and nothing less will be accepted. A deal that would be in line with the Rossoneri’s recent spending history.

Chelsea have already made an attempt, bidding €10m plus bonuses, but this was rejected for not meeting the criteria. Manchester United and Manchester City are also interested in the 22-year-old.
