The 29-year-old Spanish forward is joining Aston Villa in England on loan until the end of the 2024-2025 season.
Trained at RCD Mallorca, Marco Asensio made his first-team debut for his parent club in the 2013-2014 season.
After moving to Real Madrid in the summer of 2015, he was immediately loaned out to RCD Espanyol, where he made 37 appearances and scored four goals, including a brace and an assist in his first game for the Catalan club.
Marco Asensio returned to Real Madrid at the end of the 2015-2016 season, where he played for the next seven seasons, making 286 appearances, scoring 61 goals and providing 29 assists. He won three Spanish league titles (2017, 2020, 2022), two Spanish Super Cups (2017, 2020), three Champions Leagues (2017, 2018, 2022), four Club World Cups (2016, 2017, 2018, 2022), three UEFA Super Cups (2016, 2017, 2022) and one Spanish Cup (2023).
The left-footed player was called up for the Spanish national team for the first time in May 2016, before being selected by Julen Lopetegui to play in the 2018 World Cup. Four years later, in Qatar, Marco Asensio took part in his second FIFA World Cup and scored a goal.
In search of a new challenge, the Spanish attacker joined Paris Saint-Germain in the 2023 summer transfer window. He has made 47 appearances for the Rouge & Bleu, scoring 7 goals and providing 11 assists. He added to his honours list a French League - Coupe de France - Trophée des Champions treble achieved by the capital club during the 2023-2024 season, as well as the Trophée des Champions 2024 won in Qatar in January 2025.
