Coming as little surprise to Aston Villa fans, Marco Asensio has been named the Player of the Month in March. Since coming from PSG on loan, the Spaniard has provided the needed quality in the final third to unlock opposing defenses throughout his stay at Villa.

When on the pitch, the attack simply looks more threatening. On a number of occasions, Asensio has started on the bench, like against Club Brugge in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16, and proven to be the difference.

His perfectly weighted passes and vision are a missing element when he isn't on the field. It's this display of class that has many hoping for a long-term agreement to be reached between AVFC and PSG during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Considering how good the current Ligue 1 side looks in their attack and their likely focus to continue to be on the younger, emerging talents, it's safe to say that the French side will be willing to part ways with Asensio. They'll understandably want something for him, but they are likely to be eager to make a deal happen.

Important financials for Aston Villa to address

The persisting issue at the club and a potential significant roadblock for something like that would be the Financial Fair Play aspects and the Profit and Sustainability Rules. Other clubs have found ways to seemingly get around the guidelines, while other attempts need to be revisited. Assuming Nassef Sawiris and Monchi find a way to navigate the monetary terrain of the business end of things, that should open up the door for Asensio staying in Birmingham.

Either way, until at least May, the attacking midfielder is part of Emery's side. While Asensio had a good last month, he, along with his teammates, will be eager to wash the bad taste from their mouths of the PSG defeat. Revenge didn't happen against the AM's parent club in the first leg. On Tuesday, he'll be given a second chance when Aston Villa host PSG at Villa Park.
