Marseille are stepping up their pursuit of Rennes winger Amine Gouiri (24), according to L’Equipe and Foot Mercato. Les Phocéens have reportedly submitted a €16m bid to lure the Algeria international. Rennes have turned down Marseille’s bid for Gouiri, but Les Rouge et Noir are open to the idea of parting ways with the Olympique Lyonnais Academy graduate if their demands are met. Gouiri is Rennes’ record signing after joining Les Rouge et Noir from OGC Nice in a €28m move. The 24-year-old remains tied with Rennes over a contract set to expire in 2027.
Marseille need to bolster their attacking options after parting ways with Elye Wahi, who joined Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt. Foot Mercato reports that Gouiri has set his sights on joining Roberto De Zerbi’s Les Phocéens. The outlet understands that club-to-club talks will continue between Rennes and Marseille. The Bretons have reportedly submitted Marseille a counteroffer. Gouiri’s Rennes will host RC Strasbourg this Sunday.
