Matarazzo was keen to remain tight-lipped regarding specific team news however, he spoke out regarding defender Tim Drexler.
“Drexler has been sick for the past two days. We'll see if he can start training today and is an option for the game.”
“Apart from that, there are currently just one or two minor aches and pains - but I don't want to say anything more specific about that at the moment.”
19-year-old Drexler of nearby Bruchsal has made seven appearances for Hoffenheim this season after making eight last campaign.
“For the club, the Bundesliga is, of course, the most important thing. But we will not give up on any competition. We want to get something tomorrow." Said Matarazzo on the fixture, with Hoffenheim carrying a record of one win, one draw and one loss in European competition this season.
“The anticipation for tomorrow is great. It will be a special game against a big club and a well-positioned team. Not an easy task.”
French defender Stanley Nsoki, who has made four appearances for the club this campaign, also spoke during today's press conference regarding facing French opposition in Lyon.
“It is indeed French opposition, but the match is not particularly special for me. My focus is on fighting for TSG and giving everything for the team.”
“I try to play a simple game and do my job on the pitch. Only that way can I show my best side and help the team. I want to build on this stability.”
Hoffenheim currently sit in the relegation playoff position in the Bundesliga after a far-from-ideal start to their campaign. However, a good performance in European competition could help turn the tides for the club moving forward.
