Valencia CF made the trip to Madrid to take on Getafe CF at the Coliseum on Sunday, October 27, with a 4:15 pm kickoff (local time) on Matchday 11 of LaLiga EA Sports.

Valencia CF had a quiet start, attempting a direct style of play in the early stages of the first half. However, they faced an early scare only five minutes in, when Giorgi Mamardashvili produced a superb save to deny Omar Alderete around the ten-minute mark. Momentum soon swung in Getafe’s favour, with Valencia CF struggling to create any significant threats.

The game entered a cagey and sloppy phase midway through the first half, with frequent stoppages and few clear chances for either side.

In the 35th minute, Enzo Barrenechea put Valencia ahead, stabbing the ball past David Soria at the far post from a corner kick to make it 0-1. Following the goal, the match opened up, and Mamardashvili was called upon again, making a heroic save to deny Carles Pérez from equalising in the dying moments of the first half. Valencia CF went into halftime leading 1-0.

Valencia CF had a nervy start to the second half and struggled to settle back into the game. An injury forced them into a substitution when Thierry Correia had to be stretchered off after a collision with Omar Alderete, with Dimitri Foulquier replacing him.

Late on, Valencia survived another scare when Mauro Arambarri rattled the crossbar with a towering header around the hour mark. Valencia CF stayed disciplined, sitting deep with 10 men behind the ball for long periods in the second half.

Rubén Baraja made two double substitutions: Germán Valera and Yarek Gasiorowski replaced Gayà and Luis Rioja, while Fran Pérez and Hugo Guillamón came on for Diego López and Enzo Barrenechea.

However, Maximiliano Caufriez conceded a penalty late in the game, allowing Arambarri to equalise from the spot, making it 1-1. Giorgi Mamardashvili then made another crucial double save to deny Diego Rico and Bertug, securing a point in a tense performance at the Coliseum.

Valencia CF will next face CP Parla Escuela on Wednesday, October 30, at 9 pm at the Estadio Las Ámericas in the Copa del Rey.
