Mathys Tel opts for Manchester United | OneFootball

As we enter the final hours of the transfer window, Mathys Tel has decided to join Manchester United.

That’s according to Florian Plettenberg, who reports that negotiations are currently ongoing between the two clubs, but that Bayern Munich rejected Manchester United’s initial loan offer as they are pushing to include an obligation to buy, or a permanent transfer in the winter transfer window.

Plettenberg also remarks that while Tel has decided on Manchester United, after rejecting Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the week, that Arsenal remain in the race to sign the French youth international.

Tel was left out of the Rekordmeister’s win against Holstein Kiel on Saturday, with Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund saying: “A lot’s been going on with the young lad in the past few days. He’s only 19. We decided together with him yesterday that there’s a lot on his mind, so it makes no sense for him to be involved today.

“That was discussed very openly with him. But that doesn’t mean anything. There’s a lot going on right now. Lots of clubs are interested in Mathys. He just needs to think about things today and tomorrow.”

Speaking to Sky Germany, Freund did suggest that hint that Tel could remain at Bayern beyond tomorrow’s deadline: “You can never rule anything out 100 percent.”
