Sunday’s trip to Crystal Palace will be just our second-ever meeting with the south London side in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

We’ve faced the Eagles – who are competing in the WSL for the first time in their history - on nine occasions in all competitions, including encounters in the FA Women’s Championship, FA Cup and Women’s League Cup.

Across those nine games, we’ve won eight times and drawn once – a 1-1 draw in the Women’s League Cup back in 2018 – and you can expect goals in this fixture, with us netting 25 goals in those nine meetings.

Our last encounter came in the Women’s League Cup last month at the VBS Community Stadium as goals from Matilda Vinberg and Araya Dennis – her first goal for the Club – sealed a 2-0 win and qualification to the quarter-final of the competition.

Following our opening day win over Palace in September, 2024, a 4-0 victory at Brisbane Road, tomorrow’s game also presents an opportunity to complete a league double over a newly-promoted team for the third time in our last four campaigns.

Crystal Palace have lost each of their last four meetings with us without scoring across all competitions, already losing twice this season: 4-0 away in the WSL and 2-0 at home in the League Cup.
We beat Crystal Palace 4-0 in the Eagles’ first ever WSL game back in September and we will now be looking to achieve a league double over a newly promoted team for the third time in the last four campaigns (also v Leicester in 2021-22 and Bristol City in 2023-24).
Crystal Palace have picked up just one point and scored only one goal in their five WSL home games (D1 L4), with only Yeovil Town winning fewer points (0) and no side scoring fewer goals after as many matches on home turf in the competition (Notts County also 1 goal).
We have won seven points from their last three WSL games (W2 D1), the same number we recorded from their opening eight league matches of the season (W2 D1 L5).
Crystal Palace have lost all four of their London derbies in the WSL by an aggregate score of 21-2, with Chelsea the only side to lose each of their first five in the competition (first 6). The Eagles’ 5.3 goals conceded per game in such matches is also a competition high.
Against Crystal Palace on MD1, we had 26 shots and recorded the highest xG figure that any team has managed in a single WSL game so far this season (4.12).
