It’s worthing keeping an eye on Bethany England and Jess Naz when we take on West Ham at Brisbane Road on Sunday (2pm UK) on our return to Barclays Women’s Super League action.

Since joining us from Chelsea in January, 2023, our captain has scored three goals in three games against the Irons while playing in our colours, including netting in the 3-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the final game of the 2023/24 campaign.

During her time playing in the WSL, Bethany has faced West Ham on 12 occasions and has scored eight goals overall.

Jess, who earned her first start for England during the international break, will also be looking to maintain her goalscoring run against our London rivals – scoring in our two meetings last term.

Meanwhile, Eveliina Summanen has enjoyed an excellent start to the campaign, with the midfielder one of three players to have scored (two goals) and assisted (two assist) more than once in the WSL this season.

Last time out against the Irons…

Match stats

  • West Ham were the only current WSL team that we did a league double over last season, and we could now win three in a row versus the Hammers for the first time in the competition.
  • We have won three of our last four home London derbies in the WSL (L1) after winning just one of their first 11 in the competition (D3 L7).
  • Eveliina Summanen is one of three players to have both scored more once (2) and assisted more than once (2) in the WSL this season (also Lauren Hemp and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd) – her four goal involvements are just one fewer than she managed in 20 league games last season (1 goal, 4 assists).
  • Viviane Asseyi could become the seventh player to make 50 appearances for West Ham United in the Women’s Super League – the Frenchwoman is already the Hammers’ top scorer in the competition (12) and is also now only one assist away from becoming their joint-leading assister in the WSL (5 currently).
