Kylian Mbappe is urging Real Madrid to make a move to sign Arsenal centre-back William Saliba this summer.

Real Madrid have been hurt by defensive absentees this season with Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal sidelined with ACL injuries. Fellow defender David Alaba has also only returned from an ACL injury of his own.

Despite the emergence of Raul Asencio, Real Madrid are expected to enter the market for a centre-back in the summer. According to Le10Sport, Mbappe is urging the board at Real Madrid to make a move for France teammate Saliba.

The Spanish side have been monitoring the performances of Saliba at Arsenal, where the 23-year-old has established himself as one of the best young defenders in Europe. He has had a crucial role in Arsenal’s improvement under Mikel Arteta in recent campaigns.

Saliba has been named in the PFA Team of the Year in each of the last two campaigns, having helped Arsenal to the division’s best defensive record over the last two seasons.

Mbappe is understood to be imploring Madrid to make their move for his compatriot, having played alongside Saliba at international level.

However, Arsenal have no intention of selling Saliba this summer, who is contracted at the Emirates until 2027.
