The Mexican national team is shaking up its roster ahead of the Nations League matches.

Head coach Gerardo Martino downsized the initial 38-player squad to 23, releasing 16 figures and bringing Mexican-American David Ochoa on to the squad as the team prepares to host Suriname and visit Jamaica. Veteran figures like Guillermo Ochoa, Hector Herrera, Raul Jimenez and Erick Gutierrez will all make way for fresh faces to secure minutes during the Concacaf competition.

Prospects Marcelo Flores and Julian Araujo remain with the team, hoping to make their first appearance of the June window in the upcoming matches. Arsenal youngster Flores earned his first call-up since committing his international future to Mexico, announcing his allegiance over Canada and England earlier this month.

Given the departure of Guillermo Ochoa and Alfredo Talavera, Real Salt Lake’s David Ochoa will join to become the third goalkeeper available for Mexico. He stands alongside Santos Laguna figure Carlos Acevedo and Leon goalkeeper Rodolfo Cota.
