West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has been discharged from the hospital and will continue his recovery at home following a serious road traffic accident earlier this month, the Telegraph reports.

The 34-year-old sustained a broken leg during the crash on December 7 in Epping, Essex, and was airlifted to a hospital in central London.

After weeks of treatment, Antonio was allowed to return home shortly after Christmas. The injury is expected to keep Antonio sidelined for the remainder of the season.

His current contract runs out at the end of the season, but the Hammers may consider keeping him on the books beyond this summer.

Antonio has been a key player since joining from Nottingham Forest nearly a decade ago.

His performances have been instrumental in West Ham’s success, including securing a spot in European competitions and winning the Europa Conference League in 2023.

The news of Antonio’s accident sent shockwaves through the football community, with fans and fellow players expressing their support for the Jamaica international.

West Ham released a statement shortly after the incident, assuring supporters that Antonio was stable, conscious and communicating.

West Ham hit with another blow as Jarrod Bowen picks up injury

West Ham have been dealt another massive blow with Jarrod Bowen suffering a fractured foot in the 5-0 home defeat against Liverpool on Sunday.

The Hammers talisman has been a key player this season, contributing six goals and four assists in 21 games across all competitions.

However, the England international has now been ruled out for up to eight weeks, which is a significant blow to manager Julen Lopetegui, who is facing a huge fight to keep his job.

Three of Bowen’s five Premier League goals have been match-winning strikes for West Ham, which has bailed out Lopetegui more often than not.

With Antonio and Bowen sidelined, West Ham should be in the market for more reinforcements when the January transfer window opens.
