Arsenal are through to the UEFA Champions League semifinals after beating Real Madrid 2-1 in the second leg of their quarterfinal, sealing an impressive 5-1 aggregate win to set up a showdown with Paris Saint-Germain.
But despite the dominant display, one pundit has raised a concern heading into the first leg. Midfielder Thomas Partey will miss the match due to suspension due to yellow card accumulation.
As a result, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will have to figure out a way to replace the veteran over the first 90 minutes, and he recently hinted who might have to step up in Partey’s role.

Following the Gunners’ win over Ipswich Town on Sunday, Arteta was asked what player he could be looking at to replace Partey, and he might have one player lined up for that spot in the midfield.
“[Leandro Trossard] certainly ready to play in any position – we have to make certain adjustments, not because of PSG, but because of the situation we had as well with Thomas [Partey] and a few other players,” Arteta said (h/t Arsenal). “But that’s good because the team shows adaptability and versatility for certain players to play in different positions. That’s very much needed, especially when we have the numbers we have at the moment.
The first leg isn’t until April 29, so the Spaniard still has a few days to consider his decision.
