Santiago Giménez is a concrete target for Milan this January and they are ready to make a new offer.
Despite signing 2 strikers in the summer – Álvaro Morata and Tammy Abraham – it has been obvious in the first half of the season that the Rossoneri are missing a true goalscorer up front.
The Milan management also see that and are now trying to secure the services of 23-year-old Mexican international (but with an Italian passport) Giménez.
As reported by Matteo Moretto of Relevo, Milan’s first offer of close to €30m was rejected as Feyenoord want €38-40m. However, Moretto reports this evening that a second bid is being prepared, with the club “ready to make a significant financial effort and hoping to get closer to Feyenoord’s requests”.
The player, meanwhile, is set to make the jump from Eredivisie to Serie A and has already agreed a 3.5-year (plus an option for another year) contract with Milan. Other outlets suggest he would earn around €2.5m per season wearing the colors of the Diavolo.
There is just one week left in the transfer market and so Milan don’t have a lot of time to negotiate with Feyenoord, who like Milan play their last Champions League Group Stage match next week and have a chance of finishing in the Top 8, having just beaten Bayern Munich 3-0 this week with Giménez scoring a brace.
Joining from Cruz Azul in 2022, Giménez has scored 64 goals in 104 appearances for Feyenoord in all competitions.
