Igli Tare is the frontrunner to become the new Milan sporting director and, once the hiring will be finalized, the Rossoneri will focus on finding their next manager. Only a miracle could keep Sergio Conceiçao on their bench at this point.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, they’ll add to the front office without replacing any of their current execs. The former Lazio official is on excellent terms with Geoffrey Moncada.
Their brass is very high on Cesc Fabregas, but it won’t be easy to convince him to leave Como. They discarded some big names, for instance Maurizio Sarri, for the bench last summer, also due to a matter of cost, but they might change their mind.
Milan have been keen on Roberto De Zerbi for a few years, and Massimiliano Allegri is also on their radar, Corriere dello Sport informs. The former is faring well at Olympique Marseille and would have to be talked into departing after just a year. He has blasted Ligue 1 a couple of times.
The ex-Juventus gaffer is out of contract, and his move to Saudi Arabia appears to have fallen through despite previous momentum. He helmed them ten years ago, winning a Scudetto. He finished second and third in the ensuing seasons before being axed 19 rounds into the 2013/2014 campaign.
They’ll be in a better spot than last summer as they won’t have any other boss on their books, which shouldn’t be a big factor in such a vital decision but all too often is. Their American ownership hasn’t valued the position as much as it should have but perhaps has learned the lesson. They need to land a high-profile gaffer with an exciting brand of football.
