Millwall striker Kevin Nisbet has told the club that he wants to complete a move to Aberdeen in the summer transfer window.

That's according to a report from The Daily Record, who say that the 27-year-old's preference is to make a move back to Scotland before next week's transfer deadline.

Nisbet only joined Millwall last summer, when he moved to The Den from another Scottish Premiership side, Hibernian for a reported fee of £2million.

However, he was unable to recreate the prolific form he showed in Scotland during his debut campaign in the Championship.

As a result, it seems as though the striker is now keen on a move back north of the border, before the window closes.

Kevin Nisbet keen on Scotland move

Earlier this week, it was reported that Aberdeen are keen on a deal to sign Nisbet as a replacement for Bojan Miovski, who recently joined Spanish side Girona.

Now it seems as though that interest has indeed caught the attention of Nisbet himself, as he weighs up his options for the coming campaign.

As per this latest update, the striker has informed Millwall that he is keen on a move to Aberdeen this summer.

It is thought that he also has interest from clubs elsewhere in the Championship, but that a return to Scotland is his preferred move.

Aberdeen and Millwall are therefore said to be in talks over a potential loan move for Nisbet for the rest of the campaign.

It was reported when he made his move last summer that the striker had signed a three-year contract at The Den, securing his future at the club until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Nisbet's only appearance for Millwall so far this season came as a late substitute on the opening day of the campaign, in a 3-2 defeat to Watford.

Neil Harris' side also lost their only other Championship game they have played so far this season, going down 4-3 to Bristol City in a dramatic match at Ashton Gate.

They are next in action on Saturday afternoon, when they travel to the MKM Stadium to take on Hull City.

Millwall have been active themselves in the transfer market this summer, with five first-team signings.

Macaulay Langstaff, Japhet Tanganga, Lukas Jensen, Liam Roberts and Femi Azeez have all moved to The Den on permanent deals.

Millwall should sanction striker's Aberdeen move

It would seem to make sense for Millwall to give Nisbet his wish of a move to Aberdeen before the transfer window closes.

There may not be much point in keeping him at the club if he does not want to be there. His form last season, and lack of game time in this campaign, also means they could cope without him.

Nisbet's contract situation also means that they would not risk losing him for free next summer, even if he has a good spell out on loan, so there is security there as well.

Meanwhile, it would be safer allowing him to head to Scotland with Aberdeen rather than another Championship club, given that would ensure they do not strengthen a direct rival.

It may also be hoped that if he can produce the form he did the last time he was playing north of the border, it could give him confidence and momentum to make an impact when he returns to The Den.
