The records keep on tumbling for Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, who has broken the Premier League record for most goal contributions in a single season.

Salah is enjoying the best form of his career under new manager Arne Slot and was recently rewarded a new contract thought to be worth just shy of £400,000 per week as a sign of his status as one of the best players in the world right now.

The 32-year-old set up Luis Diaz's opening goal at the weekend which, when followed up by a late strike from Virgil van Dijk, helped seal a 2-1 win over West Ham United to move Liverpool 13 points clear at the top of the standings with just six games remaining.

It was Salah's 18th assist of the season which, when added to his 27 goals, takes his tally for goal involvements all the way up to 45 for the 2024/25 campaign. Never before has a player reached such a high total in the Premier League.

Thierry Henry set the previous record at 44 in the 2002/23 season, in which the Arsenal legend racked up 24 goals and 20 assists - Henry's assist record remains a league-high but is in danger of being broken by Salah over the next six games.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland matched Henry's 44 in his first season in England. The Norwegian set up just eight goals in 35 games but racked up a ludicrous 36 goals to temporarily join Henry at the top of the podium.

Salah needs nine goals in the final six games of the season to tie Haaland's single-season scoring record, but requires a further two assists to match the assist record jointly held by Henry and Kevin De Bruyne from the 2019/20 season.

Liverpool have a mixed run of fixtures to end the season. They take on relegation candidates Leicester City next weekend before facing Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Arsenal over the following two weeks. Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace are the final two opponents of the year.
