Celtic have been told that Lennon Miller wants to play at the highest level but he is happy where he is. The 18-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Celtic in the last few weeks as he continues his impressive displays with Motherwell.

Speaking to PLZ Soccer, Miller’s dad Lee said that his son is enjoying his football at present but wants to progress to play at the highest level.

“He’s not interested in going anywhere else right now in terms of he wants to rack up as many games as possible. Yeah, that time will probably come, and he wants to play at the highest level, Lennon.

“But I go through different scenarios with him all the time. ‘Think if this happened, this could happen’ in different situations. And he’s got ambition, he’s got massive ambition, he wants to be a Scottish international, play at the highest level. The way he’s going just now he will do that, but there’s no rush for that, and he understands that as well.”

Miller has been heavily linked with Celtic but there appears to be some hesitation amongst the support given how David Turnbull’s transfer turned out. Celtic paid £4.5m for the highly rated midfielder and whilst he did well for the club, there was a feeling that he never really lived up to his promise, culminating in a £2m move to Cardiff in January.

Many appear to be suggesting on social media that Celtic could seal a transfer for the starlet and loan him back to Motherwell to ensure that his game time wishes are fulfilled. Celtic might entertain that approach, especially with depth in the midfield meaning that Paulo Bernardo and Luke McCowan are fighting for minutes.

Playing in the UEFA Champions League would be the highest level for a lot of players, as well as competing for trophies. However, a number of Scottish players have gone to Serie A and the Premier League, which could tempt the player away from Scotland.

Brendan Rodgers has been instrumental in developing a number of top youth talents, cultivating and improving them. Miller can look at Callum McGregor, Matt O’Riley and James Maddison as examples of the manager taking talented players and helping them push on and improve their game.
