Ex-Roma coach Jose Mourinho has reportedly beaten his former club to the signing of Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri, and now looks set to challenge his old rival Lazio for the services of relegated Sassuolo winger Armand Lauriente.

Mourinho was appointed head coach of Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce at the beginning of June, following his mid-season departure from Roma back in January.

The Special One’s old club, Roma, had been hoping to strike a deal for En-Nesyri this summer as they look to rebuild their attacking department under Daniele De Rossi, however, the Giallorossi were ultimately unable to strike an agreement with Sevilla.

Mourinho and Fenerbahce had more luck, and were able to negotiate a reported fee of over €20m for the 27-year-old Morocco international.

Roma, meanwhile, will continue to look in LaLiga for their next potential attacker, as they look to come up with a deal with Villarreal for Alexander Sorloth. Lille’s Jonathan David has also been mentioned as a possible option for De Rossi.

Mourinho, meanwhile, looks set to continue disrupting the transfer plans of Serie A clubs this summer, as Fenerbahce are also reportedly considering a move for Sassuolo’s Lauriente, who has been widely tipped with a move to join Marco Baroni’s Lazio this summer.

Sky Sport Italia report that the Biancocelesti will sit down for discussions with their Sassuolo counterparts next week, but Lauriente is not short of options, and Fenerbahce was mentioned as a possible alternative destination on Tuesday afternoon’s broadcast.
