NAC Breda took full advantage of Roda’s disappointment in missing out on automatic promotion on the final day of the regular season in the Dutch second tier. After a 3-1 win at home in the first leg of their play-off clash, the side then followed it up with a 5-0 thumping of Roda away from home. Their reward is a two-legged clash with FC Emmen.
Their opponents had a much closer affair against FC Dordrecht. After the first leg finished 2-2 in Emmen, a late goal from Vicente Besuijen away from home was enough to send Emmen through to the next round. On Tuesday evening the first leg will take place at the Rat Verlegh Stadion in Breda.
The sides split the two games this season in the league, with the away side winning each time. Emmen beat Breda 3-1 back in September 2023, with Breda winning 3-2 in Emmen. With five different goal scorers against Roda, Breda will be hoping that the team continues to exhibit its ability to score goals collectively. Emmen have also spread goals around this season, with Piotr Paryszek of Poland leading on nine in 35.
The second leg will take place in Emmen on Saturday afternoon. The winner will face either Excelsior or ADO Den Haag for a place in the Eredivisie.
