On Tuesday, Neil Lennon confirmed Celtic has signed Hatem Abd Elhamed from Hapoel Be’er Sheva in a deal believed to be worth £1.6m.
The one-time Israeli international can play centre-back or right-back and Lennon believes Elhamed will add a lot to the squad.
“We think he’s a good player. Strong defensively, very quick and I think he’d be a very good addition,” Lennon said.
“In his last three seasons, he’s played very well at a very good level. I’m really impressed with what I’ve seen of him.”
With the 28-year-old’s signing, Lennon also confirmed that the trial scheduled for former Leicester centre-back Danny Simpson has been canceled.
“We were down the line with Hatem and one or two other options so we just felt it would be futile to bring Danny in if he sees us bringing in other players in his specialised position,” said Lennon.
