A new date for the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park has been confirmed with Everton to host Liverpool on Wednesday, February 12.
The original December date had to be postponed just hours before kick-off due to the effects of Storm Darragh.
Liverpool were due to make the short trip to Goodison Park for the final time in early December but the dangerous weather conditions across the UK have led to the decision to postpone the match on safety grounds.
It was just one of a number of other sporting events postponed across the same weekend as Storm Darragh brought extreme winds and rain to the UK, leaving thousands without power and causing the Cabinet Office to issue an emergency alert. The Met Office had earlier issued a rare red weather warning for parts of Wales and south-west England indicating a potential risk to life.
But now the new date has been given the all-clear as Everton host their fierce rivals at Goodison Park for the final time before lieaving their famous old home of 132 years and move into a new 52,888-seater stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock in the summer.
The original date would have seen Sean Dyche in the dugout but, following last week’s appointment, David Moyes will be in the home dugout. It will mark his first Merseyside derby since leaving the club in 2013.
The match will kick off at 7.30pm GMT and be shown live in the UK on TNT Sports.
