Newcastle United are interested in signing Loris Benito from Swiss side Young Boys this summer.

That’s according to The Sun, who report that Benito could be heading to St James’ Park on a free transfer when his current contract expires in June.

The 27-year-old left-back has made 39 appearances in all competitions for Young Boys this season, and featured against the likes of Manchester United and Juventus in the Champions League Group Stage.

The Swiss international moved to the Bern-based club from Benfica four years ago and is reportedly also on the radar of Watford, Burnley, Inter and Bordeaux.

But Rafael Benítez is understood to be a firm admirer of Benito and the Magpies are hoping to swoop in and sign him on a Bosman deal before any other potentially interested parties make their move.
