Athletic Club will be forced to make do without the contributions of a key member of the club’s frontline in their upcoming meeting with Real Madrid.

This comes amid confirmation that Nico Williams will play no part in the fixture.

Athletic Club are of course primed to return to action later this evening.

Fresh off booking their spot in the semi-finals of the Europa League in midweek, the Basque outfit will shift focus back towards matters on the domestic front.

A trip to Spain’s capital lies in wait, to take on a wounded Real Madrid.

As alluded to above, though, in efforts to secure what would be an impressive win at the Santiago Bernabéu, Ernesto Valverde and co. will need to make do without star winger Nico Williams.

As per a statement across Athletic’s website and social media platforms:

‘Nico Williams has a sports hernia and will miss Sunday’s La Liga fixture against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.’
