MIAMI – The 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League kicks off on Wednesday, as six nations in League C begin their quest for promotion.
Two first time encounters will begin the matchday as Anguilla faces Turks and Caicos Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands meets the Bahamas. The British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands will meet for a third occasion.
Anguilla vs. Turks and Caicos Islands
Anguilla meets Turks and Caicos Islands in Group B at TCIFA National Stadium in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands. They two will face each other for the first time in the Concacaf Nations League.
They two nations met twice in the preliminary round of the Concacaf qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup 2026, drawing both matches. The first encounter ended scoreless while a 1-1 tie in the second forced penalties as Anguilla advanced to the next round.
Anguilla will compete for the fourth time in League C, looking to match or better its best performance in 2022/23 when it finished second in the group. Luke Paris scored Anguilla's last goal in the Concacaf qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup against
the Turks and Caicos Islands. Jelanie Lawrence was one of the goalkeepers with the most saves (13) in League C of the last CNL edition.
With 10 goals, Billy Forbes is the all-time scorer in CNL for Turks and Caicos Islands. Junior Paul scored three goals in six appearances in his first CNL participation in 2022/23.
U.S. Virgin Islands vs. Bahamas
The U.S. Virgin Islands hosts the Bahamas in Group A at the Bethlehem Soccer Complex in Christiansted, U.S. Virgin Islands. The nations will face each other for the first time in the Concacaf Nations League.
The U.S.V.I. will seek to match its best performance from the 2022/23 edition, when it accumulated four points. James Charles Mack III is the nation’s top scorer in the tournament with two goals. Dylan Ramos was second in saves in League C of the 2023/24 CNL.
The Bahamas returns to League C, where they disputed the inaugural edition of the tournament. Lesly St Fleur is the nation’s top scorer in the CNL with four goals and was the top scorer in the first edition with three. Wood Peter Julmis was the top scorer in the 2023/24 edition with three goals.
The only previous meeting between the two was on February 28, 1999, in a scoreless draw in Group A of the preliminary round of the Caribbean Cup at the Thomas A. Robinson Stadium in Nassau.
British Virgin Islands vs. Cayman Islands
The British Virgin Islands meets the Cayman Islands in Group C at the Truman Bodden Complex in George Town, Cayman Islands. The nations will face each other for the third time in the Concacaf Nations League.
Rivals in Group D of League C in 2022-23, the two sides drew by the same scoreline of 1-1 twice. Troy Caesar and Syrus Conolly scored in the first meeting in Road Town. Jonah Ebanks and Jamie Wilson were the scorers in the previous meeting at Truman Bodden Stadium on June 6, 2022.
Overall, they have faced each other six times, with the Cayman Islands winning three and the other three ending in draws.
The British Virgin Islands will compete for the fourth consecutive time in League C.
Their best result was in the last edition, achieving second place in Group C. Tyler Forbes is the nation’s all-time scorer in the competition with four goals. Daniel Gilford was the leader in saves with 16 in the League C of the 2023/24 CNL.
The Cayman Islands came close to promotion in 2019/20 but were denied the top spot in the group on goal difference. Jonah Ebanks leads the nation with four CNL goals all-time. Albertini Holness was one of the five goalkeepers in League C in the 2023-24 edition with the most saves (9) and has 28 total saves in his CNL history.
