Nottingham Forest have lodged a £22 million bid for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa, according to reports. However, the proposed fee falls well below Brentford’s valuation of the 28-year-old, who remains a key player for the west London club.Wissa is under contract with Brentford until 2026, with the option of an additional year, strengthening their position in negotiations. Despite Forest’s interest, Brentford are expected to demand a significantly higher fee for the versatile attacker. The DR Congo international, signed from FC Lorient in 2021, has been an integral part of Brentford’s rise in the Premier League. In 133 appearances for the club, Wissa has registered 41 goals and nine assists, showcasing his attacking prowess. This season, Wissa has been in superb form, scoring 11 goals in 19 Premier League matches. Only a handful of players, including Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah, have outscored him in the current campaign.Capable of playing on either flank or as a central striker, Wissa’s versatility is a major asset. His contributions have made him one of Brentford’s standout performers, alongside Bryan Mbeumo, who has also been a key figure for the Bees this term.Nottingham Forest, currently enjoying an impressive Premier League campaign, are eager to strengthen their squad as they push for a top-four finish. Under Nuno Espirito Santo, Forest sit third in the league, six points behind leaders Liverpool, after winning seven of their last eight matches. The City Ground outfit are looking to bolster their attacking options, with Wissa emerging as a priority target. Their current reliance on Chris Wood, who has 14 goals this season, leaves them vulnerable should he suffer an injury. Taiwo Awoniyi, the only other senior striker, has struggled for form and fitness, netting just once this term.Wissa’s ability to operate across the front line would provide Forest with much-needed depth and flexibility. His experience in the Premier League makes him a player who could deliver immediate results. While Forest have made their intentions clear with a £22 million bid, Brentford are unlikely to part with Wissa unless their valuation is met. Whether Forest will increase their offer remains to be seen, but securing Wissa could prove pivotal as they aim to sustain their remarkable season.
