L’Équipe report that Premier League side Nottingham Forest are making a play to sign 28-year-old Ghanaian international central defender Alexander Djiku, who is a free agent at the end of the month.
Djiku, 28, who joined Strasbourg in 2019 and has more recently been club captain, has received a formal contract offer from Nottingham Forest, whose transfer window is currently being run by Chief Football Officer Ross Wilson.
Strasbourg are attempting to convince Djiku to sign a contract extension and now able to offer a significantly improved financial package following the acquisition of the club last week by BlueCo, the holding company that Clearlake Capital is using to build a multi-club project to support Premier League side Chelsea.
A number of other sides are interested in Djiku, including Lille, Besiktas and Mainz. Ex-Strasbourg duo Ludovic Ajorque and Anthony Caci are both currently under contract with the latter outfit.
