After finishing 17th in the Championship this past season, there is clear work that needs to be done at Nottingham Forest this summer.
A poor start to the campaign saw Sabri Lamouchi sacked and replaced by Chris Hughton, and the former Newcastle and Brighton man was unable to get the Reds up the table and into the top half.
Forest spent money on the likes of Harry Arter, Loic Mbe Soh and Scott McKenna last season, and you can expect Hughton to want more reinforcements in, especially with loan players potentially not returning to the City Ground.
There are incoming and outgoing rumours circulating around the club right now though – let’s round-up the latest gossip.
Taylor could be set for loan departure
According to Football League World sources, Forest striker Lyle Taylor is a wanted man ahead of the transfer window opening, with the Monserrat international potentially heading out on loan.
The 31-year-old scored just four times in 37 Championship outings last season, barely getting a look-in from the start of a game in the second half of the campaign.
With both Taylor and Lewis Grabban the wrong side of 30, Hughton could be looking to freshen up his attack and that could mean letting Taylor go.
Blackburn, Middlesbrough and Barnsley are all thought to be showing interest in Taylor, who still has two years remaining on his Forest contract.
Forest set to battle with European outfits for 25-y/o
Filip Krovinovic was a January signing by Hughton on loan from Benfica, having spent the first half of the season with Premier League side West Bromwich Albion.
The Croatian midfielder failed to feature on a regular basis though which saw him make the switch to the City Ground, and he was expected to shine like he did for the Baggies in the second tier last season but he only scored once for Forest.
Despite that, the club are keen on bringing him back for next season according to A Bola (via Sport Witness) but there’s interest from further afield in Europe – with reports in the player’s native Croatia stating that Russian side Spartak Moscow want to make a permanent move for the 25-year-old.
Turkish side Alanyaspor are also preparing an offer according to A Bola, so Forest could face a fight on their hands this summer.
Worrall wanted by Clarets
Facing the prospect of losing James Tarkowski either this summer or next, Sean Dyche and Burnley are in the market for a new centre-back and they seem to be casting their eyes towards the Championship once again.
Their advances for Stoke’s Nathan Collins in January ended in failure and attentions may have now been turned to Forest skipper Joe Worrall.
The Sun believe that the Clarets are eyeing up a £10 million move for the 24-year-old, with Norwich City and West Ham also watching what happens with Worrall with eagle eyes.
The defender has three years remaining on his contract so Forest are in a strong position to command a big transfer fee, but a Premier League move could be tempting for Worrall.
