Nottingham Forest will be looking to top off their excellent season when they face Manchester City at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday 27th April at 4:30pm. Nuno Espirito Santos’ side are looking to end their campaign with Champions League qualification and a trophy, which would mark their best season since 1990. Pep Guardiola’s side, on the other hand, will be looking to save their season by winning the FA Cup. This game will be broadcast live on ITV1.
Forest have had some low scoring games against the “Big Six” in the Premier League this season. This includes a 0-0 draw with Arsenal, a 1-0 win against Man City and a 1-1 draw with Liverpool, all in 2025.
Man City have averaged 6.56 corners won per game in the Premier League this season, while Forest have only averaged 4.26 corners won per game. Forest also average 6.42 corners conceded per game, with only Brentford and Ipswich Town conceding more.
Nottingham Forest have seven games to go in their quest for Champions League qualification, with the Tricky Trees currently sat third in the table. It will be down to Nuno Espirito Santos to manage their Premier League games alongside the FA Cup situation, as they look to end the season strong. Much of their chances will depend on injury issues being dealt with, as Chris Wood is currently out (top scorer), as is Ola Aina and Anthony Elanga, who have both been key this campaign.
Man City have a lot riding on the FA Cup, as they currently languish outside the top four, failing to make it five Premier League titles in a row. In fact, Guardiola’s side went on to spend £186.3m in the January window, looking to bring reinforcements to the squad for the Spaniard with the additions of Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis. While the Citizens still have seven important Premier League fixtures to play as they look to qualify for Champions League football in their worst season since 2008-09, winning their eighth FA Cup to ensure they don’t go trophyless.
Ola Aina looks unlikely to be back in time to face Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final, after sustaining a calf problem. Chris Wood, Anthony Elanga and Taiwo Awoniyi should all be baack.
Rodri, Nathan Ake, Erling Haaland and John Stones will all be unavailable for Pep Guardiola’s side. Manuel Akanji will be touch and go depending on how well he returns from his injury, having been out since February.
The two sides have faced each other twice this season, with Manchester City winning at The Etihad, before Forest returned the favour by beating Pep’s side at The City Ground. This game being on neutral ground will prove to be the decider between the two for this season.
