Barcelona have officially announced that Brazilian forward Raphinha has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2028.

The renewal comes after a standout season that firmly re-established him as one of the team’s most influential attacking figures.

After new head coach Hansi Flick signed a new deal just a day prior, it was Raphinha’s turn to take the spotlight. The 28-year-old travelled to the club’s headquarters and met with president Joan Laporta to finalise and sign the extended deal.

The new contract adds one more year to his previous agreement, which was initially set to run until 2027.

Better terms for Raphinha

As part of this renewal, Raphinha’s salary has been increased, an acknowledgement of the extraordinary performances he delivered throughout the 2024/25 campaign.

His third season in Blaugrana colours has been by far his most productive since joining from Leeds United in July 2022. The original five-year contract included a staggering €1 billion release clause, underlining the club’s long-term commitment to the player.

This season, Raphinha scored 34 goals and provided 22 assists in 56 official appearances, remarkable numbers that place him among the most decisive attackers in Europe.

His influence has grown significantly, especially under the guidance of Flick, who played a pivotal role in convincing the Brazilian to commit his future to the club.

Last summer, Raphinha was the subject of intense interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, with lucrative offers tempting him to consider a departure.

However, his desire to succeed at Barcelona and the confidence shown in him by the new coach proved decisive. Rather than pursue a move elsewhere, Raphinha has made it clear that his future lies with Barça.
