Ajax have confirmed the signing of Mexican international Jorge Sanchez, who joins the club from Club America on a four-year deal.
With Noussair Mazraoui leaving for Bayern Munich and Devyne Rensch failing to convince, right-back has emerged as something of a problem position for Ajax at the start of this season.
It became clear at the end of July that Sanchez was the player they wanted to bring to the club to solve that problem, and they’ve now done just that.
The 24-year old has signed a four-year contract, with Club America believed to have received a fee of around €5 million, and says the move is a dream come true.
“It’s always been my dream to play in Europe,” he told Ajax TV.
“I am very happy to be with Ajax, a big club. I’m here to do my part and win prizes.
“I am a footballer with a lot of fighting spirit, I fight for every ball. In Mexico they call me a fighter and that’s how I consider myself. I even had a tattoo of it that I like.
“When I’m let loose on the field, I even throw my head into a duel if necessary. I love it and try to convey that mentality to teammates.”
