Borussia Dortmund have today announced the signing of Belgium youth international Julien Duranville from Anderlecht for a reported €11m including bonuses.
After completing a three-hour medical at the Knappschaft hospital on Thursday morning, Duranville (16) signed a three-year contract with BVB, the maximum term for a player under 18. They will then have the option to continue their cooperation once Duranville turns 18. As reported by Ruhr Nachrichten, all parties agreed on Thursday evening before Borussia Dortmund announced Duranville’s arrival on Friday.
“We’re very pleased that Julien and his family have placed great trust in us,” said BVB Sporting Director Sebastian Kehl. “We’d like to work together in the coming years to leverage this potential and drive his development forward, as we have already proven several times in the past with young talents.”
Duranville is considered one of the brightest talents in Belgian football and will provide competitions in the wide areas. Making his professional debut for Anderlecht at 16, Duranville has played six games in the Jupiler Pro League this season, scoring one goal, and also represented the Belgian side four times in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Heading into the weekend five points behind Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund make the short trip to Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday as they look to keep their title aspirations alive.
