Inter Milan loanee Valentin Carboni and superstar Lautaro Martinez have received international call-ups from Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni.
According to the national team’s official social media platforms, as reported by FCInter1908, the 19-year-old prodigy has made the October cut.
That means the highly-rated youngster will reunite with his ex-clubmate Lautaro Martinez during the international window.
Carboni and Martinez had briefly shared the dressing room at Giuseppe Meazza over the summer.
Unfortunately, despite his promising season-long loan spell at Monza last term, the Argentine whizz-kid had to leave again.
Simone Inzaghi didn’t want to hinder Carboni’s progress.
Given stiff competition for places at Inter, the teenager left Italy to team up with Olympique Marseille.
However, his loan stint at the Stade Velodrome has been off to a lackluster start.
New Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi was desperate to lure Carboni to France late in the summer.
But he has inexplicably handed the versatile forward only 55 minutes of Ligue 1 action thus far.
Regardless of his stuttering start at Marseille, Carboni will link up with the Argentina squad during the upcoming international break.
The reigning Copa America and FIFA World Cup champions continue their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign later this month.
Both forthcoming matches promise to be a walk in the park for Scaloni’s team, at least on paper.
After facing Venezuela on the road, Argentina will host CONMEBOL whipping boys Bolivia in Buenos Aires.
The game at River Plate’s Estadio Monumental could be a perfect opportunity for Carboni to make only his fourth Argentina cap.
As for Martinez, his place in the squad is safe after his tournament-winning exploits at the 2024 Copa America.
The Inter captain will try to help La Albiceleste recover from a 2-1 loss to Colombia last time out.
