In a rather grim development, Real Madrid have officially confirmed that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has suffered another injury just days after he returned to action.

“Following tests carried out on our player Thibaut Courtois by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the adductor muscle of his left leg. Pending development,” the club statement read.

Courtois had been out sidelined for a couple of weeks after suffering an injury during the derby against Atletico Madrid last month.

The Belgian shot-stopper recovered during the international break and made his comeback this past weekend against Celta Vigo.

Courtois put in a starring performance against Borussia Dortmund last night, helping Real Madrid secure a 5-2 comeback win.

Now he has been sidelined once again and is expected to miss two-three weeks of action as per Mario Cortegana.

It means that the goalkeeper is ruled out of this weekend’s crucial El Clasico against Barcelona in what will come as a huge setback for Real Madrid.

Andriy Lunin will step into the starting XI for the reigning La Liga champions against their bitter rivals.

Courtois joins Rodrygo on the treatment table, with the Brazilian also out of the weekend Clasico due to a hamstring injury he suffered last night against Dortmund.

David Alaba and Dani Carvajal are both out as well for Real Madrid.
