The Italian Referees Association has appointed Matteo Marcenaro as the main referee for Saturday’s showdown between Inter Milan and Torino.

According to FCInterNews, Marcenaro will blow the first whistle at Giuseppe Meazza.

In addition, two veteran linesmen, Alessandro Giallatini and Filippo Bercigli, will be Marcenaro’s assistants.

Meanwhile, Rosario Abisso and Gianluca Aureliano will be in the VAR room.

The match between Inter and Torino kicks off on Saturday, 20:45 CET, with the home side seeking their third consecutive win.

Simone Inzaghi’s charges have bounced back from a Derby della Madonnina upset with back-to-back victories.

Udinese were first to feel Inter’s wrath last weekend.

Lautaro Martinez returned to the scoresheet with a match-winning brace to inspire a 3-2 triumph at the Bluenergy Stadium.

It was a perfect warm-up for Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League encounter against Red Star Belgrade.

Four different goalscorers fired Inter to a scintillating 4-0 win, setting them up nicely for their first Serie A fixture before the break.

Serie A Appoint Referee Matteo Marcenaro For Upcoming Clash Between Inter Milan & Torino

Marcenaro only made three Serie A appearances this season.

He was the match official in Juventus’ 3-0 humbling of Como. Interestingly, none of the three games he has officiated ended all square.

However, Inter players must be careful, considering Marcenaro’s tendency to wave around with the bookings.

The 31-year-old has averaged 6.33 yellow cards per game this season, though he has yet to show a red.

But he awarded two penalties to Fiorentina in La Viola’s come-from-behind 2-1 home win against Lazio on Matchday 5.

Curiously, Inter have only had one penalty in Serie A this term. Hakan Calhanoglu was relentless from the spot against Lecce in round two.

Mehdi Taremi bagged another spot-kick in last night’s win against Red Star.

With or without a penalty, Inter are favorites to extend a four-match winning streak against Torino.
