A pair of Real Sociedad stars, and one from Villarreal, have this weekend departed Luis de la Fuente’s Spanish national team squad.

This comes owing to developments in Spain’s latest outing, on Friday.

La Roja are fresh off making it four wins from five in their Nations League group last night, courtesy of a 2-1 downing of Denmark.

En route to as much, though, injuries and suspensions alike proved a central talking point.

When it comes to the former, both Martín Zubimendi and Álex Baena were forced into premature departures from the action in Copenhagen, owing to fitness concerns.

Mikel Oyarzabal, meanwhile, was shown a yellow card, giving rise to a one-game Nations League suspension.

And as much, as alluded to above, has since given rise to an outflux from Luis de la Fuente’s squad to face Switzerland.

As per a statement across Spain’s social media platforms, Zubimendi and Oyarzabal have both been given permission to return to Real Sociedad, with Baena having linked back up with Villarreal:
