Official: Villarreal announce Sergi Cardona deal | OneFootball

La Liga outfit Villarreal have on Thursday announced a fresh addition to the club’s defensive ranks.

The player to have linked up with Marcelino’s troops with a view to next season? Sergi Cardona.

Left-back Cardona, for his part, has long seen his name take its place front and centre in the Spanish media headlines.

As much comes with the 25-year-old, fresh off a stellar individual campaign on the books of Las Palmas, having allowed his contract terms in Gran Canaria to come to a close.

Something of a race for his services, in turn, was kicked into gear, with a number of clubs from across the La Liga landscape understood to have expressed an interest in his signature.

As alluded to above, though, on Thursday, this race was brought to a close, by Villarreal.

As per an official statement across the website and social media platforms of the Yellow Submarine, Cardona has put pen to paper on terms with the club through the summer of 2027:

‘Villarreal CF have reached an agreement with Sergi Cardona, who joins the Submarine as a free agent and will play for the Yellows for the next three seasons, until June 2027.’
